An old world sensibility meets the Pacific Northwest at Captain Whidbey. Set along the shores of Penn Cove, the property is rich in character - wood paneled interiors, vintage furnishings, and an unmistakable sense of place. Living just next door, I’ve come to know its quiet corners, beautiful light, and particular charm. Its a favorite setting for Whidbey Island engagement sessions, where cocktails turn into an afternoon by the lagoon and portraits feel equal parts intimate and wild.
For Brooke and AJ’s engagement sessions, the setting lent itself to an afternoon of easy romance. We wandered around the lagoon, cuddled in the cozy coaches inside, and flirted in the coastal log cabin bar tucked in the back of the property. Photographed on film and digital, the gallery moves between portraiture to candid exchanges, and the little moment between the two of them. An understated, editorial take on a familiar place and two people very much at ease together.
